We are reflection

We are what we watch and we watch what we are. Every day we are bombed by images that follow us from the start to the end, images that can go unnoticed, but after all images that are still there. That is basically what cinema is about. They make us choose between many options within our own preferences. We are free to choose what to watch, and by the moment we make that choice, the qualities that are in it absorb us and turn us into the protagonist of the story we are watching. Those stories we love, make us dream taking out of it its most interesting particles, those we know we can use in real life, those we can make more powerful from what we have seen that has enthralled us. And then is when the memory persists, that memory that tells us how to dress, how to walk, who to look like. A memory that sums up in a beautiful melody that turns us into the soundtrack of that film that left a mark on us.

(Somos un reflejo.

Somos lo que vemos y vemos lo que somos. Todos los días nos bombardean imágenes que nos persiguendesde el principio hasta el final. Imágenes que pueden pasar desapercibidas pero que al fin y al cabo están ahí. De eso, básicamente, es de lo que trata el cine. Nos dan a elegir entre diversas opciones dentro de nuestras propias preferencias, somos libres de decidir que queremos ver y que no, pero en el momento en el que hacemos esa elección nos absorben las cualidades que en ella habitan, pasando a ser nosotros mismos los protagonistas de esas historias que nos fascinan y nos hacen soñar sacando de ellas sus más interesantes partículas, aquellas que sabemos que podemos utilizar en la vida real, aquellas que podemos potenciar por lo que ya hemos visto, eso que nos ha dejado fascinados. Y es entonces cuando queda el recuerdo, ese recuerdo que nos dicecomo debemos vestir, como debemos caminar, a quien nos debemos parecer. Unrecuerdo que se resume en una bella melodía que nos convierte en la bandasonora de esa película que nos marcó.)
